A word about testing:

We DON'T send you for repeat tests UNLESS:

  •     Your original tests were not sensative enough (newer technologies show detail older machines simply do not).
  •     It has been long enough that the results are not reliable.
  •     Your physical or mental condition has changed since the first tests were performed.
  •     The interpretation of your tests do not agree with later exams or tests.

Why do we sometimes make you go to a special facility, instead of to a facility that might be more convenient to you?

  • We know the quality of the results we get from certain facilites.
  • We know the quality of test INTEPRETATIONS we get from certain facilites.
  • We may have had poor results from specific facilites in the past.
  • We know that we will get the results in a prompt manner from certain facilites.

HOWEVER: It is YOUR responsibility to make sure that your insurance covers the location we send you to- if it doesn't contact us IMMEDIATELY, so that other arrangements can be made.

Bloodwork:

We may ask for a routine test to check blood level of the medications that you are on, or you may tell us that things have changed- perhaps you are having some symptoms that might indicate that you are being either over or under medicated.

We may also ask that you have bloodwork done BEFORE you come in to see the doctor for a follow-up, please make sure that you have the tests done in enough time that the doctor gets them before your appointment.

Some of the tests we might ask for you to get:

AED levels- Tells us the levels of medication for epilepsy in your blood- whether you have a sufficient level or too little or too much-EITHER can cause problems.
